Less than three weeks since the last producer letter, Aoki reveals patch 1.05 will arrive in mid-July, adding the ability to watch replays of other players. In addition--maybe something got lost in translation--but Aoki "encourage you to sign up today and mark your calendars" for the first online VFOC qualifier. Which is this upcoming weekend. He "promise it won't be one to miss!"
Virtua Fighter, a game that became a major milestone for the industry and proved to be a template for a new sub-genre in versus fighters. It was a project that gave the AM2 team at SEGA a fair share of challenges. They had to create human characters from a low number of polygons with realistic movements, but also invent how to translate the fighting genre to 3D.
After winning VF5 REVO Combo Breaker 2025, ChinpanJ sits down with SEGA introducing himself and sharing his thoughts about Virtua Fighter and the community. ChinpanJ is the first player to qualify for VFOC Global Finals.

The highly requested Replay Mode is confirmed to be in the next update patch: 1.04! Not only will Replay Mode have the options already available in the Free Training Mode, but new options such as hiding opponent's name and ability "to take control and play from any point you choose" will be included.
Update: May 25, 2025. Final day of Combo Breaker. The Top 24 will be streamed on Tampa Never Sleeps Twitch channel and Sega's Official YouTube channel.

As announced in the Spring 2025 VF Direct, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2. No concrete date has been announced, but you can now put the game in your "Wishlist" on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. REVO version on Switch 2, which the console will be released on June 5, 2025, is still listed as "Coming Soon".
